Both of my parents are rather entrepreneur-spirited pensioners, neck deep into natural healing, herbs, ethnic culture and simple living. They have tons of alternative ideas and always come up with something “new-to-sell”, which I think is great & sweet too!
Late summer last year my dad called me asking for some help creating a logo and a sticker label design for his herbal tea. Apparently, he had spent days in the fields of the country hand picking fireweed leaves.‘Fireweed’, he explained ‘also known as Spiked Willowherb, makes a magnificent tea, that can help regulate metabolism, brain function, <...> prevents diabetes, cures anemia, improves vision...’. In all essence, (he made it clear) this was a must-have tea for me, mom and everyone else.

We started with the name of the brand, agreeing it should be called “Tėčio Arbata”, which literally means “Dad’s Tea”. We discussed his vision for the label, the text, and then there was just the packaging left. It was a fun project & I was happy to spend time with him discussing ideas and herbs, not to mention, I was equally curious to create some extra projects for my portfolio using mock-ups. In the end, this is what we wrapped-up with!

A modest poster design for "Dad's Tea".
Logo Design for "Dad's tea". The label reads: Dad's tea, The product of Nature. The inspiration for logo design came from an early childhood memory, where I was a No.1 fan of Dad's hand picked Mint & Nettle Leave tea, I drink it every morning,.. this is why the two leaves under the text are a mesh of both plants, reminding nettles and mints. To create leaves I used Photoshop "Prior-Kyle" brushes, and Illustrator for everything else.
I was very lucky to find a package mock-up exactly the same as we one we ordered. The mock-up was a royalty free download from a website called Graphic Burger, and it was mega easy to use. To keep up with the speedy pace of this project, I found and licensed a picture of Fireweed leaves & blossoms from Adobe Stock, where from there was just design & finishing parts left.
